Mount Batur is an active volcano located at the center of two concentric calderas north west of Mount Agung in Bali island, Indonesia. The southeast side of the larger 10×13 km caldera contains a caldera lake.
The landscapes and views of this mountain is magically beautiful, featuring the lust green jungles, the black lava from the last explosion, and surrounding mountains.
When is the best time to do mount batur hiking?

Dry season is the best time to hike mount batur, June to September within the year it is. However, as long as it is not raining it should be fine. The sunset time is around 06.00 am and it doesn’t change much as Bali is located close to the equato.

If you are travelling alone it is good idea to do the shared cost trip, this way you can split the car rental cost and you will just need to pay one guide for one day for the whole group which will cost a lot cheaper.
Hiking mount batur independently is definitely possible, just make sure to politely refuse what the local guides offer at the hiking starting point.
Mount batur hiking routes
Hiking mount batur is an excellent way to witness the Bali’s island view from the mountain top and it is indeed refreshing.
You need to either rent a car with the driver or with motorbike if you are comfortable, just make sure you have your international licence to be able renting a motor bike. One day car with a driver is about from US$ 40 to US$50 with the driver and petrol for 24 hours depending on the type of the cars, while motorbike costs about US$5 for one day.
Basically, hiking mount batur is not too difficult, it has relatively pleasant trekking trails, but it is a little bit challenging therefore an average level of fitness is required.
