West Nusa Tenggara is a province in Indonesia, which has Mataram as its capital city. Lombok and Sumbawa are the two big islands in West Nusa Tenggara. It is where the majestic mount rinjani and other spectacular natural attractions located. Here’s a must visit west Nusa Tenggara travel destinations list.

1. Beautiful Lombok Island

The beautiful Lombok island is just 20 minutes by flights from Bali, located on the east side of Bali and on the west side of Sumbawa.

Lombok is part of the lesser sunda chain where the majestic Mt Rinjani and spectacular beaches, and world class diving, snorkelling and surfing spots located.

2. Majestic Mount Rinjani

Mount Rinjani is a spectacular active and beautiful volcano sits at 3,726 m above the sea level. This beautiful mountain is the main Lombok travel destination, for those who are in mountaineering.

It is the second highest volcano in Indonesia, after Mount Kerinci in Sumatra Island, located in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.

Danau Segara Anak (Segara Anak Lake) is another highlights here, located on the west side of Mount Rinjani. It is a spectacular volcanic lake formed in the caldera of Mount Rinjani, located in Lawang Sembalun village.

3. Mandalika village, where Lombok stunning beaches located

Mandalika villages is one of must visit west Nusa Tenggara travel destinations, located in central Lombok. It is the a hidden gem known with the spectacular beaches and lush hillside area.

Some of a must visit natural attractions in Mandalika Lombok are; Kuta beach on the west part of Mandalika, Seger beach, Serenteng beach, Bukit Merese (Merese hill), Tanjung Aan beach and next to Tanjung Aan there is  Batu Payung beach (umbrella beach), and Gerupuk beach.

4. Sekotong, West Lombok in West Nusa Tenggara

Sekotong is a Sub District (“Kecamatan) in west Lombok, west Nusa Tenggara, offering a long list of stunning beaches and some spectacular sites for snorkelling.

The beaches located in Sekotong are Mekaki beach, Desert Point / Bangko Bangko, Elaq – Elaq beach, Batu Surat beach, Teluk Sepi and Teluk Panggang beach, Gili Nanggu, Gili Asahan, Gili Rengit and list goes on.

5. Senggigi and Senggigi beach

Another must visit place in West Nusa Tenggara is Senggigi. It is a great choice for relaxing and have a drink by the beach cafe after having a good time travelling around the island. It also has some good wave for surfing even it is not the best.

6. The 3 Gili Islands : Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno

Another reason of people travelling to Lombok is to visit 3 Gili islands, those are Gili Trawangan known as tropical party island, Gili Air which is more relaxed than Gili Trawangan, and Gili Meno as the a perfect getaway for honeymooners, couple and family.

7. Sumbawa, the pristine island in West Nusa Tengagra

Sumbawa is tranquil island located in West Nusa Tenggara, it is popular with its world class surfing and diving spots, friendly people, lush rainforest, and beautiful landscapes.

8. Moyo Island, Sumbawa

Moyo island has an endless tourist attraction which makes this beautiful island should be listed in a must visit west Nusa Tenggara travel destination.

It is where you can find  a lush national park located a few kilometers of the north coast of Sumbawa, spectacular waves for surfing, world class diving spots and of course stunning beaches.

9. Lakey beach, the paradise on the earth for the surfers in Sumbawa

Lakey beach is indeed the paradise on the earth for the surfing lovers, it is a long, wide, palm-lined, white-sand stretch of beach fronted by reef. Much of the bottom is rocky, but farther up the beach it’s sandy and good for swimming. This beach is very popular within the world’s surfing community.

10. Mount Tambora, the roof of Sumbawa

Mount Tambora is the highest peak in Sumbawa which is also known as the roof of the island, sits at 2,722 above the sea level. If you are into mountaineering and visiting Sumbawa, hiking Mount Tambora is definitely should be on your must thing to do.
