Gili Islands Lombok Indonesia

The three Gili Islands, Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air are the most visited destinations in Lombok by far, located on the northwest of Lombok, Indonesia.


The name “Gili Islands” is derived from the local language (Sasak language) meaning “Small Island” and is universally used in Lombok.

The combination between glamour and laid back atmosphere of the island life at the same time makes Gilis worth listed as a must visit island in Indonesia.

Not to mention the white sandy beaches, world class diving spots, a number of little beachside cafes, restaurants and bars serving a both local and international foods, and motorized-vehicles free make it even perfect!

The climate in Gili Islands

The Gilis are drier and hotter than Lombok, but more refreshing in the evenings. It has less rain than Bali, the rainy season falls approximately between November to March.

The high tourist seasons are around July-August and December-January.

Gili Trawangan

Gili Trawangan is the party island and is also the largest, busiest and most visited of the other three islands.

Gili Meno

Gili Meno is located in between Gili Trawangan and Gili Air. It is known as a very relaxing and laid back island which is popular for the family, couple and honeymooners.

Gili Air

Gili Air is located closest to Lombok than other two. It is known as the social backpacker island.

Apart from the three main Gili Islands, there are a number of other smaller Gilis off Lombok but far away from the three Gilis, such as Gili Nanggu and Gili Gede.
