Candidasi (pron. Chan-de-da-sa) is a relaxing coastal town, one of popular tourist destinations in East Bali, and the capital of Karangasem regency.
This tranquil coastal town was before called Teluk Kehen, however it was changed to Candidasa since the tourism here was introduced.
It offers a wide range of accommodation, from basic to five-star resorts and few good restaurants in between. It is also a strategic place from where to explore the east of the island, which boasts exotic cultural highlights and a range of historical sites and exciting tours to enjoy.
How to get there
By car or Taxi
From Ngurah Rai airport to Candidasa takes about 90 minutes. A prepaid taxi from the airport costs Rp. 335,000.
Some hotels and resorts in Candidasa also provide the airport pick up service, but you will have to make sure and arrange it when you are making the booking.
You may also take a well known national Perama Perama shuttle buses from Kuta, Sanur, Ubud, Padang Bai and Lovina. Make sure to make a reservation one day in advance. The Perama office in Candidasa is located on the main road next to the police station.
Regular bemos ply the main east coast route between Klungkung and Candidasa via Padang Bai. Bemos to Candidasa leave from Batubulan terminal in Denpasar.
Like other areas in Bali, you can also rent motorbike here, which is a practical and easy way to get around. If you are not comfortable riding motorcycle, a metered taxi and online taxi (gocar, uber, grab) are also available.
If you want to visit different areas outside of Candidasa it is best to rent car with a driver which is costs around Rp.500,000 for 8 to 10 hours. The price is including for petrol and parking fee.
